National Symbols of Georgia
Listen to Georgian National Anthem
"Tavisupleba" (in Georgian თავისუფლება) is the new national anthem of Georgia. The title means "Freedom". It was adopted on 23 April 2004. "Tavisupleba" succeeds the old anthem Dideba zetsit kurtheuls, adopted after Georgia's independence from the Soviet Union. The lyrics are by Davit Maghradze (დავით მაღრაძე), music by Zakaria Paliashvili (ზაქარია ფალიაშვილი). The music and lyrics were adapted into an anthem by Ioseb Kechakmadze (იოსებ კეჭაყმაძე). |
